NW.JS in Memex Backup Helper talks to Google

If reporting a bug:

1. Can you describe the problem and bug in more detail?

It sees like the Memex Backup Helper is talking to gstatic.com and updates.googleapis.com even when doing local backups only. This is a privacy concern.

2. How can we replicate the issue?

Install and run the Memex Backup Helper, track and inspect network traffic.

3. Expected behavior (i.e. solution)

Zero non-user initiated or controlled network access.

4. Error stack (from extension crash page)

Nope.

5. Other comments

I strongly dislike involving third parties without my explicit agreement.

Thanks @berlincount for making us aware of this.

We'll soon do some rewrites there, so we'll keep it in mind. Not sure where that ping comes from.
Maybe its NW.JS doing that. We'll have to check. Sorry for the troubles.
