Intellectual Property Policy

PrivateDAO is authored by Eslam Kotb (X-PACT).

Scope

  • Core protocol (programs/) is licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later.
  • SDK layer (sdk/) is licensed under Apache-2.0.
  • Frontend/docs layer (frontend/, docs/) is licensed under MIT.
  • Commercial licensing is available for proprietary integrations (see LICENSE-COMMERCIAL.md).
  • The names "PrivateDAO" and "X-PACT", related marks, and branding remain reserved to the owner.

Commercial Use Boundary

  • You may use each layer according to its declared license terms.
  • You may not use project branding, logo assets, or identity materials to imply official affiliation, endorsement, or origin without explicit written permission.
  • Production/commercial deployments that use official branding should obtain written approval from the owner.

Idea Protection Boundary

Copyright protects code and creative expression, not abstract ideas. If you want legal protection for the underlying governance method and brand in specific jurisdictions, register:

  • Trademark (name/logo/brand)
  • Patent (if applicable and novel, with legal counsel)
  • Copyright records where registration is beneficial for enforcement

Enforcement

If you detect unauthorized branding use or attribution violations, open a report to the maintainer with:

  • infringing URL/repository
  • screenshots and timestamp
  • exact material copied
