XLS-XID – A Decentralized Identity Framework for XRPL

Hello XRPLF community,

I would like to propose a new standard: XLS-XID (eXistence ID), a decentralized digital identity framework built on the XRP Ledger.

Overview:
XID empowers users to create and control their own digital identities in a secure, privacy-preserving and verifiable way. It is designed to function as a sovereign identity layer for the XRPL, enabling trusted interactions in both human and machine contexts.

Key features include:

• On-chain identity anchored via XRPL-native mechanisms.
• Support for DIDs and Verifiable Credentials (VCs).
• A “Life Mode” for emergencies, sharing minimal yet vital data securely.
• Modular architecture to allow future integrations (e.g., with wallets, health IDs, passports).
• Privacy-first, user-controlled disclosure of data.

Vision:
To establish a global, interoperable identity system where individuals retain control of their data, with the flexibility to serve governments, communities, and digital platforms.

Feedback, suggestions, and collaboration are warmly welcomed before moving forward with a formal pull request.
