new aseprite file get ignored or not found.

hello, the new files done with aseprite got ignored for a while, so, i investigated it, as it turn out, aseprite got some change with new feature such as z-index per cel since version 1.3. and some more new features since then. the current version of aseprite is 1.3.9. you can find all the new features from this site: https://blog.aseprite.org/

But what does it mean? I'm just calling aseprite and asking it to spit out the files. Did they also randomly change the command-line syntax or what
