I'd like to disable certain Yoast checks (e.g. singleH1), so they don't show up in the backend.
why you think the feature request is something we should consider for the Yoast SEO plugins?
Not all checks done by Yoast are relevant for SEO ranking. The H1 check for example is not, therefore it would be nice to be able to hide that error in the Yoast reports in the backend.
