Can I use upstream MPTCP (kernel 5.15) in a Ubuntu VPS?

In the Install or update the VPS page there is only script to run upstream MPTCP in Debian, but my VPS provider don't have support for Debian, only ubuntu, can i use the upstream MPTCP just adding this code "UPSTREAM="yes" sh" in the end of the ubuntu script command line?

And if you can explain what the difference between using upstream MPTCP or not.
