How to : register selector extensions when using Capybara driver?

I'm struggling to work out how to do playwright.selectors.register() when I'm using the Capybara driver : is this something to be added to the DriverExtension module, or am I missing something?

OK, so this is enough to get you access to the selectors attribute ....

module BrowserRunnerExtension
  def playwright_execution
    @playwright_execution
  end
end

module SelectorExtension
  def selectors
    @selectors ||= @browser_runner.playwright_execution.playwright.selectors
  end
end

Capybara::Playwright::BrowserRunner.include BrowserRunnerExtension
Capybara::Playwright::DriverExtension.include SelectorExtension

... but I'm having trouble with when to register selectors in the lifecycle (also using Cucumber for extra layers of obfuscation, yay).

You can't do it just before you use them because it seems like they're only injected when the page is created see ..

Trying to work what point in the lifecycle browser_runner will be available but before a page is created ...

OK, the browser is only created lazily when a method is forwarded to the driver ... so a cheesy way to do it (in conjunction with the extension code above).

Capybara.register_driver(:playwright) do |app|
  driver = Capybara::Playwright::Driver.new(
    app,
    browser_type: :chromium,
    headless: Settings.browser_config.headless,
  )
  driver.current_url # This starts up the browser so it can accept script injection below
  driver.selectors.register('input_after', script: SELECTOR_EXTENSION)
  driver
end
