deviceStatus() only shows whether the crystal has been commanded to vibrate.
In case of circuit problems it can happen that the crystal cannot start.

I made a circuit which was working on 5V, but the capacitors are too small to use it on 3.3V
It took some time and an oscilloscope to figure out the problem.
Now it does not need a scope.
