Zoneminder installed according to https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_13_Trixie_with_Zoneminder_1.36.35_or_Zoneminder_1.37.x but without sudo being root instead :

1. apt install apache2 mariadb-server php libapache2-mod-php php-mysql lsb-release gnupg2

2. apt install libvlc-dev libvlccore-dev vlc

3. apt install -y lsb-release gnupg2 (AGAIN :-/ )

4. echo "deb https://zmrepo.zoneminder.com/debian/master "lsb_release -c -s"/" | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zoneminder.list

5. wget -O- https://zmrepo.zoneminder.com/debian/archive-keyring.gpg | gpg --dearmour -o /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/zmrepo.gpg

6. apt update

7. apt install zoneminder

8. systemctl enable zoneminder

9. systemctl start zoneminder

10. adduser www-data video

11. a2enconf zoneminder

12. a2enmod rewrite

13. a2enmod headers

14. a2enmod expires

15. reboot
    Have remote (mjpeg) and local cameras added.

I tried to add IP-camera (Greenvision GV-004-IP-E-COS14-20) which I can use in VLC with link rtsp://<local_IP_here>:554/user=<username_here>&password=<pswd_here>&channel=1&stream=0.sdp?
BUT in Zoneminder's log I get

I added VLC_PLUGIN_PATH="/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vlc/plugins"
as there is no /usr/lib/vlc/plugins in my file sysytem.

So, I have
echo $VLC_PLUGIN_PATH
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/vlc/plugins

I've been looking for solution in the Web for two days, read a lot of similar issues, I've even asked LLMs (sorry, I know it was stupid).
What am I doing wrong ?
What should I do to use my IP-camera in Zoneminder ?

I will look into this, but please DO NOT use the vlc monitor type. It existed because for a time ffmpeg was immature. That was like 12 years ago. I need to just kill it.

WHen creating/editing the monitor, select the ffmpeg monitor type on the General tab instead of vlc. Ffmpeg is the default.

I managed to make it working.
I tried "ffmpeg" as "Source Type" on "General" tab but it did not work. I tried "remote" as "Source Type" on "General" tab and it failed either.
On the way I figured out that VLC GUI uses MJPEG codec to show picture.
After hours of trying to make it working I changed codec from MJPEG to h264.
(The only possible way to do it was using Internet Explorer in Windows 7 due to Greenvision's idea)
So, I finished with:: tab "Source"
Source Path: rtsp://<local_IP_here>:554/channel=1&stream=0.sdp?
Username: <username_here>
Password: <pswd_here>

As you can see I gave up the link

which I considered as panacea.

By the way, thank you for this solution made "like 12 years ago".
It have been helping me during this 12 years as long as my previous home server worked with Zoneminder 1.25.
A week ago its HDD died, so I have to set it up again.
