Tool to manually detect ratruns

A very simple idea that would help me A LOT. Be able to place a single marker on the map and color the upstream / downstream roads in two different colors (like blue & red). Have a slider to increase or decrease the distance (either counting in length, or in intersection nodes).

Use case : I see too many traffic in a street but don't know where they come from (or where they would go). When I'm doing some scouting in the city, I would follow the cars and understand each branching. LTN could help me do that way faster.

This sounds similar to something I've done elsewhere, so just to see if I understand the idea: you want to select one road, then find all shortcuts detected that cross that road, but show all of them at once, using width or color to show the density/weight of roads used by many of those shortcuts. Something like this, imagining one of the thickest roads is the one you clicked:

Do you want to base this on the existing shortcuts layer, just visualizing things differently? Or try to do a wider "predict impact" type model? (That may require origin/destination data to be meaningful at all)

Visualization is a placeholder : it could involve a gradient depending on length, the thickness could also vary, and so on.

So it's not about counting shortcuts/traffic at all, it's just floodfilling out. In your example, the marker is on a main road and the expansion out is only on main roads, never inside of the local roads in the cells. Is that intentional? And also in your example, it looks like there are some one-ways that you may be ignoring or paying attention to -- what should happen there?

Yes. It's just a tool that would help me quickly understand where would the car flow in or out.

No it was not intentional. It should work on both the local roads and the main roads.

Sorry. I took this example because it's a real one where it's hard to reason about : there are a lot of 3D tunnels & bridges (that allow for some hidden ratruns).

Another use case would be : i'm working to isolate a neighboorhood and I want to verify what would be the flow-in/out of a specific local road before and after my modifications.
