Translation in french ?

Would it be possible to translate indi-allsky into French? I want to try but I don't know where to start and where the character strings are.

This would be an interesting undertaking. I am just not quite sure where to start to implement this.

The pythonic way is gettext i18n/l10n. The scalable way to do it is painful at first because you have to wrap all the translatable strings in _(), but once that's done, you can create a translation template and people can translate those strings into arbitrary languages (some examples use Google Translate to do that lifting). This tutorial seems most relevant because it speaks to how to do that kind of translation work in Flask templates --

I'm a sucker for punishment I guess... I'm taking a stab at this. I've tagged what I think are the interesting strings to translate and gotten to the point of generating the .pot file today...

1161 distinct strings to translate, but there's a lot of duplication that search and replace will handle nicely when translating...

I'm not quite sure how strings used like this are supposed to be handled quite yet, so I was overly greedy in applying the gettext marker. Ideally it'll just be the single word REMOTE.

I read much of the same things. I sort of understand what is going on and once I get comfortable with this I think we can move forward with this.
