Templates and exception issue

Hello,

Thank you for this great effort that you have shared with us for free. I don't know the appropriate place to have this conversation but hopefully this is it. I am not yet a member of Fosstodon on Mastodon but registration is now by invite only.

I have a few questions.

1. What is the purpose of templates when there's an option for creating your chart of accounts through the /account /add endpoint?
2. Can the templates be imported into the database and form the chart of accounts?
3. After installation and adding several accounts, the /account/query together with all the endpoints that are suffixed by '/query' such as /currency/query and journal/query return the following exception instead of an empty result when I don't have anything under it TypeError: Abivia\Ledger\Messages\AccountQuery::fromArray(): Argument #1 ($data) must be of type array, null given, called in /var/www/vendor/abivia/ledger/src/Messages/Message.php on line 121 in file var/www/vendor/abivia/ledger/src/Messages/AccountQuery.php on line 29. Did I miss a configuration?

Hi, I moved your comment to a new thread here.

1. The intent of templates is to allow implementers to have a selection of "standard" or "base" Charts of Account, so that (for example) someone could offer charts for small business, a doctor's office, a manufacturer, etc. This way an end user could simplify the process of getting started, rather than develop their own CoA from scratch.
2. Yes. The Create entry point accepts a template name. See https://ledger.abivia.com/api/messages/create/ This is also available (without a path) through the JSON API. See https://ledger.abivia.com/api/json/create.schema.json
3. Give me a little time to take a look at that.

3. I suspect that there is an error in the JSON you're submitting and the JSON decode is returning false instead of an array. I'll improve the error handling on that.

One more thing @marvoh you can reach us on Mastodon from any instance that federates with fosstonon, which should be almost all of them.
