systemctl --user start onedrive.service fails with The OneDrive API could not be initialised and/or syncs to root directory

Hi,

I use onedrive on debian since years but after updating to trixie my service fails to start. I did everything by the book (I hope so) manual sync is working. I even purged everything and startet from scratch.

username@debian1:~$ onedrive --sync

works fine.

once I start the service via root
root@debian1:/home/username# systemctl --user start onedrive.service

the logs sys I have to verify the url again

I can start the sync via root user and enter the authorisation url, and get an response uri. But then the sync works for /root/ directory, not for the user.

so I assume that I have to start
username@debian1:~$ systemctl --user start onedrive.services
correct?

this fails as well
Failed to connect to user scope bus via local transport: $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS and $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not defined (consider using --machine=<user>@.host --user to connect to bus of other user)

Any help would be good :-)
... as long I sync manually :-)

Hi,

solved by myself. Reading (and understanding!) the error message helps.

root@debian1:~/.config/systemd/user# systemctl --machine=username@.host --user enable onedrive.service
root@debian1:~# systemctl --machine=username@.host --user enable onedrive.service
root@debian1:~# systemctl --machine=username@.host --user start onedrive.service

and everything works as expected.
