Onedrive shuts down or stop synchornizing if I delete several files.

Ok, after fixing the UTF-8 notifications popping up every 3 minutes, I ran into a new issue.

Suddenly, when I delete folders with several files inside, I receive a notification telling me the OneDrive app shut down or stopped syncing to save my files in the cloud.

How do I remove this policy? I do this often. I have OneDrive set only to upload. I remove folders with files I no longer need, as I frequently clone folders to test my projects, then delete them when I no longer require them.

I had to set OneDrive to monitor uploads only because, a few days ago, it started downloading folders I had already deleted from my local drive.

Any clue?

Many of these questions are answered by reading the application log output, or increasing the application verbosity by using --verbose when you start the client. The client will tell you why it is exiting .. or, if the client is exiting with zero information - you most likely are hitting known issues with curl - thus you must upgrade your curl version on your platform. CURL is updated. This is what I get from the terminal.

ERROR: An attempt to remove a large volume of data from OneDrive has been detected. Exiting client to preserve your data on Microsoft OneDrive
ERROR: The total number of items being deleted is: 1228
ERROR: To delete a large volume of data, use --force or increase the config value 'classify_as_big_delete' to a larger value

It is pointing me to a config value I don't know where it is.

Sorry for the questions. 2.4 was working just fine for the last year and a half, and suddenly 2.5.x is just doing stuff here and there.

Any 2.4.x version has been obsolete since March 2024

Please read the documentation to help you configure the client correctly.

The in-built protections such as 'classify_as_big_delete' were added to help users protect themselves from accidental massive data loss online.

This feature is not new to v2.5.x releases. This was implemented in v2.4.0 that was released in March 2020 ...

Well, Im going to say this just because you mentioned it. But I remember updating the app like 15 days ago because notifications, the ones about how the version I was using was obsolete, were getting annoying. Spamming every hour or so.
So, as I did, I started to get a lot of issues.
Im not an advanced user, you know. CajaDropbox is just working fine without me going to the terminal to update this and config that.
But as the client is getting harder to use and configure, Im considering moving my files somewhere else. I know you are doing your best to give us support for OneDrive for free.

Trust me, the last thing I want is to be here bothering you or anyone else.

Im checking the folders where it is supposed the config files are, but the ~/.config/onedrive does not contain any config file, and the /etc/onedrive just does not exist.

Let me check all the documentation. If Im not able to configure this, I'm just gonna cancel my OneDrive subscription and move to another service that gives Linux native support.

The client has 'inbuilt' defaults that does not use a configuration file. This has been the way this client operates for ~8 years.

If you want to change these defaults you must create a configuration file is the applicable location. This also has been the way this client operates for ~8 years.

You do this by creating a configuration file either in ~/.config/onedrive/ or /etc/onedrive resulting in:

• ~/.config/onedrive/config (a user configuration)
• /etc/onedrive/config (system wide configuration, applies to all users)

In your scenario, as per the documentation:

1. Create a configuration file in the applicable location
2. Edit the configuration options you wish to modify. Refer to https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive/blob/master/docs/application-config-options.md to assist you
3. Test that your configuration options are loading by using --display-config
4. Test that the configuration options are applying in the manner you are expecting by using --dry-run
5. Use the new application configuration
