Feature Request: Support macOS

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Would it be hard to make this work on macOS as well? You already support FreeBSD, so I hope so!

I realize this is primarily for Linux, and macOS already has a desktop client, but there are multiple advantages of your tool over the Microsoft-provided software that would help on macOS as well.

A few examples:

• direct syncing (doesn't depend on macOS FileProvider)
• alternative modes (upload-only, download-only, etc.)
• on-the-fly encryption
• command-line control

If you're open to doing this, I'd be happy to help test!

Support macOS. Similar functionality to what you have currently.

I'm currently using Microsoft's first-party OneDrive software.

Unfortunately I have no plan to support macOS as there are a number of barriers to this - namely hardware and / or environment to go test. I have no desire to invest $ in buying any form of a Mac ... sorry.

This being said, your best route is to potentially run the client as a Docker container on MacOS .. that should work if your mac is intel based.

If that fails to work, potentially a Homebrew formula can be added to support MacOS:

Now there is compiler support for macOS:

• https://formulae.brew.sh/formula/ldc

So potentially there is a pathway for something to occur ... but that would mainly be at my guess right now via updating the Homebrew formula for 'onedrive-cli' and obtaining the client that way.

There is nothing code wise specific that I am aware of at present that would preclude compilation on macOS ... but only compiling on the platform would illustrate this.

No worries! Thank you for the quick response. I'm curious, if I were to go about compiling and testing it on macOS, would you be open to a pull request if it's done well? I'm not sure if I'll find time to do this, but I wanted to double check before I explore the possibility.

Contributions are welcome - and with all the GitHub Actions CI currently being added, any addition will have to extend that footprint to macOS as well.

This then would ensure that there is no regression on code change.

It appears that someone has decided to have a crack at implementing MacOS Support.

Whilst there are issues with the PR itself, it might be worth having a look at and seeing where this leads.
