Menubar not visible

Currently, menu is not visible in Ubuntu, because the foreground menu color is almost the same as the background color

This seems to be a product of the theme used by the OS. A fix would require writing a separate menubar which is independent of the UI theme of the OS in order to be truly platform independent.
