1. Download package to project with React 17
2. Try to install dependencies

Expected behavior
Components work with newest version

Is this still an issue in version 2.0.0?
I see that in V2.0.0 the hard restrictions on node/npm/react versions seem to have been eased.

You cant just switch to v2 because there is no migration guide. All of our code completely breaks on react editable components v2. @sharanyavinod Please create an official migration guide.
