We do not have SetRoomLocation with 3 parameters. There's a chance that the game was made with a custom engine.

If someone can get in touch with an author, or reverse engineer and learn what this function variant did, then we might consider supporting it in the future.

I made a stub for this function that only uses first 2 parameters and ignores the 3rd, since we dont know its meaning:

Now the game can be started. But it may have more problems in the current engine. One thing I notice clearly is that some of the character speech is not printed. I will only be fixing things if they were running in official engine previously, but not if they are part of the custom work.

EDIT: the speech problem is coming from commit 002666f
the sorting order of overlays with identical z-order has changed. previously it was equal to the order of their creation, and I thought that's how it should be kept, but apparently there was some oversight.

The game was indeed made with a custom engine, at least it doesn't match against any of the official releases.

The function SetRoomLocation was modified to accept maxDist as a third parameter, it then checks if its 0 < maxDist < thisroom.width and either use it directly or calculate like the original function did:

@adm244 Thank you! is this a result of reverse engineering, or you have this custom engine code?

I may add this extra chunk to the function variant. Idk about having it "officially" in the api, that's a separate matter that may be dealt with later.

This sounds like you're able to start the game? I get this error message, in the intro right now with the newest version:

Edit: Okay, I've loaded the game fresh, added ags.exe and started the game. Right before it goes in the game I get this crash:

Which commit exactly do you use, and what moment exactly is "Right before it goes in the game"?

There's a "division by zero" happening in the plugin agsblend.dll.
For some reason it happens only if the engine is built in Release configuration. I am usually testing in Debug.

@Max833 please try replacing agsblend.dll with this:
agsblend.zip

Looks like this plugin is crashing in DrawSprite if "transparency" argument is 100 (fully transparent).
I cannot explain why would the original game work. There may be something else mismatching, maybe something causes passing unexpected argument there at some point.

I do not understand. The commit that you mention does not change the engine, it changes the plugin, and the resulting plugin is in the attachment. How can the new plugin not work but this commit work if engine remained unchanged?

EDIT: I just tested this new plugin build with an older engine (from one of the previous commits), and it works.

I don't know. All I can say is, that replacing the old agsblend.dll with the new one doesn't change anything, but the game does work perfect with your new build. https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/actions/runs/18574639651

Hm, it works with the github build (ags.exe) but when I use acwin.exe https://cirrus-ci.com/task/5502237578887168 I get this:

But well.... I'm doing something wrong for sure, it's very late already... ^^;
