Cleanup empty authors and narrators

After importing a couple of gigabytes audiobook libraries and cleaning up the metadata, I found myself having to clear incorrect authors and narrators manually.

It would be great if we had a function to just delete all narrators and authors with 0 titles to their names. Unless, if it's already there and I haven't found it, I apologise beforehand for this case.

What version of ABS were you running? Authors and narrators should be removed automatically when they no longer have any books.

I've never had an issue with Narrators showing 0 titles, as for authors I believe if they have been matched or have data assigned to them ie image, description or ASIN those persist even if there is no book.

Yeah, authors with a picture, description, or ASIN are not automatically removed, but author details are only populated by matching the author (specifically, not book) or manually entering the details for the author.

Metadata for authors is not scanned from books, and matching books does not edit ABS authors objects in a way that would prevent them from being removed at zero books.

There have been bugs with this automatic cleanup in the past (such as when bulk editing), so knowing the version would be helpful

I'm on version 2.20.0.

When does the automatic cleanup happen?

I only notice authors and narrators with 0 books explicitly when I match books that already had incorrect narrators and/or authors set.

In those cases, after matching, I would have to sometimes cleanup the incorrect series (in metadata only), authors and narrators, then clean up the empty authors.

Could be the case that the empty entries haven't been automatically cleaned up yet?

The cleanup happens when the book details are saved. Can you provide exact steps to reproduce the author with 0 books not being removed? I'm confused by what steps you are taking with manual edits and matching against an online provider.
