Question

I see --hardware-model and --machine-id are required arguments. Forgive the ignorance as I do not deal with macs frequently but I'm not sure what the various options are for these values and what the ramifications may be of using one value vs another for each.

For example if I have several host nodes of varying models will only certain values work with certain models?

Should I use the literal values in the examples of e30= / {} or something else?

Those are virtualization framework mandatory configurations. If you are already using https://github.com/s-u/macosvm project to build your vm image, you can get those values from the .json config file that it creates, usually looking like this:

Got it, and will the resultant image work with any physocal model or are the images essentially pinned to the machines they are built on?

Can be used on any macOS machine with any Virtualization.framework based tool.
