With documentation on setting up local testing environment in the folder /docs, it would make it much easier for a person who is trying to "onboard" himself/herself upon finding this repository.

Currently, the churn rate for contributing (especially for me) is pretty high due to lack of knowledge on setting things up properly on your machine.

#281 A pull request like this would be helpful for the "on-boarding" experience, but it has been a year old as of today.

Aye. The knowledge repo definitely lacks documentation, and something like Docker would help. I no longer have a lot of time to work on this project, but hopefully we'll get something like this before the Earth gets consumed by the Sun ;).
