Support for authentication using email address

Describe the solution you'd like
Allow for using email addresses for authentication. A new e-mail field would need to be added to the Web User entity.

Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative solution would be to allow the Web User username to accept non-alphanumeric characters so emails can be used as usernames.

If an email address field is created, it could also be used in the future to allow for a password reset feature.

Special characters are not allowed because the username can be used as part of URLs and I'd prefer to keep it that way. What would be the use case for this?

You should use the server daemon for changing the password. The application isn't capable of sending emails so implementing such feature wouldn't be trivial.

In that case, I guess keeping the username restricted to alphanumeric characters is a good idea. So the suggestion that remains is to add a separate field for e-mail addresses that both could be used interchangeably for logins.

My use case is that is streamlines a bit my IAM process where identity is e-mail based.

I was just thinking how it could be used for a more general feature, just to not request something just because of my specific use case =)
