FINGERPRINT SCAN NOT WORKING

Hi,
I tried to use this project to learn about the fingerprint in android.
After installation, the Authenticate using Fingerprint is just showing an option but not working.
Can you suggest the possible solution?

Not familiar with that device make but are you sure it supports the Google fingerprint API? I think that might be the issue

I think it does coz earlier I came across another code sample for the same part and the fingerprint authentication runs there. Also while searching for the mentioned issue on internet shows that the API is supported in devices from Android M (6.0). My device fulfills the criteria.
