Using ACE as a file (directions on the Wiki no longer works) #4971

Hello everyone.
I tried following this: https://github.com/ajaxorg/ace/wiki/Running-Ace-from-file
but ACE won't load properly (I only get a text with the code which should be the placeholder).
Is it there any new method to run ACE without server?

Thanks for any help.

P.S.: I'm using latest version, downloaded today (1.5.0)

Which file do you open and what error do you see in browser console? I am always using this method for development.

Note I actually see the editor if I use an Apache Web Server to delivery the code

Only relative paths work this way.

Nevermind, I removed the leading slash from these lines:

<script src="/ace-builds/src-min-noconflict/ace.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
<script src="/ace-builds/src-min-noconflict/ext-language_tools.js"></script>

Changing them to

<script src="ace-builds/src-min-noconflict/ace.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
<script src="ace-builds/src-min-noconflict/ext-language_tools.js"></script>

And now everything works alright!
