Description
automated subtitles got very accurate and dependable and they have impeccable timing. it may be a suggestion difficult to implement, but wouldn't it make sense to have a text selector which we could just use to point to the spoken words in a sponsor segment? it would be much easier to do than timecodes.
e.g there's a transcript segment:
1:35:57 think they I think Well, their finances say they're profitable. Well, quite I I am I am getting I am skeptical of 1:36:04 those numbers, you know, for a wide variety of reasons. 1:36:15 Hi, it's Justin. Uh, so this is a commercial for the podcast that you're 1:36:20 already listening to. Uh, people are annoyed by these, so let me get to the point. We have this thing called 1:36:26 Patreon, right? The deal is you give us two bucks a month and we give you an 1:36:31 extra episode once a month. Uh sometimes it's a little inconsistent, but you 1:36:36 know, it's two bucks. You get what you pay for. Um it also gets you our full back catalog of bonus episodes, so you 1:36:43 can learn about exciting topics like guns, pickup trucks, or pickup trucks with guns on them. The money we raise 1:36:51 through Patreon goes to making sure that the only ad you hear on this podcast is 1:36:56 this one. Anyway, that's something to consider if you have two bucks to spare each month. 1:37:02 Uh, join at patreon.comwtypod. [Music] 1:37:08 Do it if you want or don't. It's your decision and we respect that. Back to 1:37:14 the show. 1:37:20 Um, but yeah, I let's look at um some other aspects. Here's the biggest microtransit 1:37:28 system in the country. It's in Los Angeles. Boo. [ __ ] the Dodgers and [ __ ] you, 1:37:33 Noah. Antagonistic relationship with
user would simply have to select from "Uh, so this is a commercial for the podcast that you're already listening to." until " It's your decision and we respect that. Back to the show."
that would mean SponsorBlock would have a segment from 1:36:08 to 1:37:20, but it would get that automagically based on text selection.
i tried looking for this suggestion, but except a brief mention of a similar idea from issue #96 i haven't seen it discussed very much. is this not a good idea?
