Welcome to the Gigabyte-GA-Z77X-DSDT-Patch wiki. The following motherboards are supported by the GA-Z77X post installation script:
- GA-Z77X-D3H
- GA-Z77X-UD3H
- GA-Z77X-UD5H
- GA-Z77X-UP5 TH
It is recommended that you flash the latest UEFI revision for your motherboard. Once you confirm your motherboard is supported, read each page in the sidebar to install macOS.
Below is an explanation of how the script works, and what kexts/etc are used.
Each supported motherboard has a stripped DSDT in the hack-acpi repo. These DSDTs are stripped to be minimal (~6 KiB) and contain device property injection for IGPUs, PCIe GPUs, and HDMI audio. The DSDT is compiled and copied to the appropriate folder on the EFI system partition by the GA-Z77X.sh script.
The GA-Z77X.sh script generates a SSDT for CPU power management using Pike R. Alpha's ssdtPRGen.sh script. The GA-Z77X.sh detects if your CPU is overclocked, and uses the maximum Turbo Boost frequency when generating the CPU PM SSDT. XNU CPU Power Management is also enabled by the SSDT (with an accompanying kernel patch, under KernelToPatch in config.plist).
AppleALC is a patcher by vit9696 that enables support for non-native audio codecs (such as the Realtek and VIA codecs found on Gigabyte Z77 motherboards). AtherosE2200Ethernet by Mieze is a macOS port of the Linux ALX driver , supporting Qualcomm Atheros AR816x and newer NICs. [CoreDisplayFixup]
If your motherboard is not supported by the script and you would like to help me add support, please create an issue and attach an IORegistryExplorer dump. I am looking for IOReg dumps from the following motherboards:
- GA-Z77X-UD4H
- GA-Z77X-UD4 TH
- GA-Z77X-UP7
