Task Graph Support

Looking at the wiki I read:
"Instead of a general DAG, multiple queues of sequentially executed tasks will be used to describe task parallelism"

In reference to the lack of support for task graphs, citing the lack of support of CUDA 7.5

From my understanding CUDA has been supporting them for some time now and HIP does so as well , is there now a way to use such features or plans to support it in the future?

Hi @LukeTheWalker, thanks for bringing this up.

Indeed task graphs are something that we would like to support in alpaka: we have some some work to study their performance, and hopefully we can start designing an alpaka interface soon.

If it's something you'd be interested in using, we can send you a first draft on the interface once we make some more progress (consider a few months, due to the summer break and other commitments).
