Is it clear how to run the repo?

I tried running npm start like we run the kit, but it didn't work. Ended up serving the folder.

There is a CONTRIBUTING.md file which goes over the requirements, project structure, and essential commands. npm run dev is used for running the dev server, which I've seen as a fairly common pattern. npm run start is more for running a production web server, but this is a library project.

We don't have a start command defined, but there is no reason why we couldn't alias it to npm run dev to help with this issue. Would help with muscle memory, but I suspect you will want to read the CONTRIBUTING document anyway.

We do link to the document at the end of the README. Maybe we should move this higher? Or shorten the README by moving the now fairly long API docs to a separate file.
