When will plugin v2 stop working?

We are the maintainers of the altair-graphql-plugin-json-to-csv plugin. Do you know when the v2 plugins will stop working?

Hey, we explain a bit about it here. When we migrate to manifest version 3, plugin v2 will stop working in chrome extensions as a result of the technical constraints, which will in turn lead to deprecating plugin v2 completely. We've been holding out the migration to manifest version 3 because it will be disruptive but the chrome folks are pushing hard on their side, so we might have to migrate before the end of the year and hope we have given enough time.

Let me know if you have additional data points we should be considering as well.

Sorry for the confusion, v1 and v2 plugins are in the same boat in this regard so this applies to both.

From that doc (replacing v1 as v2),

In the near future, v1 plugins will still be supported in the other platforms like the desktop apps, but the browser extension will only support the new plugin system. However, we will eventually phase out the v1 plugin system in all platforms in order to maintain a consistent experience across all platforms.

got it. So when you say "we might have to migrate before the end of the year", that just means that the browser extension versions will stop working, but the desktop apps will maintain support for v1/v2 plugins for a while.

When do you plan to "phase out the v1 plugin system in all platforms"?

Yes that is correct. I don't have any concrete plans for the full deprecation yet at least until after the chrome extensions have been migrated

FYI the chrome extensions have been migrated to manifest version 3. Still no concrete plans for deprecating the v1 plugins but just noting that is now on the chopping block.
