Since most of the time we have organizers handing out devices and generally being responsible for troubleshooting metric collection is pretty commonly turned on.
The user should have tools to disable this and otherwise tune the quantity of info collected.
The two main factors are turning metrcis off and on entirely and then setting the level between INFO, WARN, and ERROR where each one provides progressively less data without turning things off.
