Design of main post discovery view

Does 'trigger conversations' consider global posts? If so what is the 'algorithm' for surfacing? Is it just 3 most recent which have 1+ reply? One of mine only has 1.

And is 'original' just a restatement of M.b timeline? If so, what's the value-add?

For both sections, I look at the user's timeline, to find out the original posts, either micro or long-form, and list them. Without this, replies tend to crowd the timeline at M.b, so this brings in the original post back in focus.

The first section (conversations) are those original posts that have replies. Second is those that don't have any replies yet. There's a "Fetch More" option that goes further back in timeline.

Thanks for clarifying that's the importance of "original". Makes sense: out of context replies are distracting. Your biggest value-add would be to hone in on the first section: original posts that have replies. Because it kills two birds: 1) removes replies, but puts them always a guaranteed 1-click away 2) uses them as a signal for quality original posts. In the absence of surveillance & emoji responses, this is probably the best hope M.b has got for surfacing. I wonder if you should order by number of replies? Then I believe you shouldn't bother with the 'unreplied' ones, and let those be surfaced by M.b timeline users & Jean on Discover. ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐ Original Message ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐
