For a start, usually target my roles for RHEL/openSUSE and I only recently I started targeting Ubuntu and Debian systems.
However, I find it extremely frustrating that we must use the code-name of the distribution. I find it very odd that Debian has to use "trixie" for example and RHEL must be "7".
I don't believe anyone apart from very hard-core users actually say "My daily drive is Debian trixie", or that they use "Ubuntu Plucky Puffin". It makes zero sense to FORCE someone to use versions as someone else believes it's the correct one. Of course this is a comment towards the ansible/galaxy developers.
In any case, based on the discussions in the ansible project about the platforms key and it's usage in GalaxyNG
