Confusing ansible provisioner doc

I think that hosts is not a valid keyword for provisioner.

Maybe the author meant something like:

    provisioner:
      name: ansible
      inventory:
        hosts:
          all:
            hosts:
              ignored:
                 important: this host is ignored
        links:
          hosts: ../../../inventory/hosts

Otherwise it is a bit confusing.

hello, did you figure out the correct syntax? I have been scratching my head for the whole day.

The whole syntax for molecule.yml is a mess.

I followed the document to the T and can't get it to work at all. I tried so many things according to the doc and google:

Molecule Syntaxes Tried (for Bug Report) and none of them works.

1. Docs-Example Style (Top-level ansible:)

ansible:
  cfg:
    defaults:
      inventory: inventory.yml
  # Fails: "Instances missing from 'platform' section"

2. Minimal provisioner with inventory.hosts

provisioner:
  name: ansible
  inventory:
    hosts:
      localhost:
        ansible_connection: local
  # Fails: Still requires platforms

3. provisioner with inventory.links

provisioner:
  name: ansible
  inventory:
    links:
      hosts: ../../../inventory/hosts.yml
  # Fails: Links processed after inventory check

4. Hybrid with hosts + links (Docs Example)

provisioner:
  name: ansible
  inventory:
    hosts:  # Ignored due to links
      all:
        hosts:
          ignored: { important: "ignored" }
    links:
      hosts: inventory.yml  # Takes precedence
  # Fails: Still requires platforms

Common Findings:

• All attempts fail with: Instances missing from the 'platform' section
• Occurs in molecule/provisioner/ansible.py _verify_inventory()
• Happens before any inventory files/links are processed
