I didn’t quite understand what you meant, we have a working docker-compose.yml file.
You don’t have to use make if you don’t want to, it's provided purely for convenience.

At the moment, we’re using GitHub's "registry".
If there's significant demand, we can start duplicating images on Docker Hub.

I believe what you mean is to perform all operations within a single docker compose up command, including generating the configuration. Did I get it right? : )

I agree it would be more convenient to implement this if that's the case. This makes things easier, especially for GUI users.

Not just for GUI users. It's a lot more easier to stay up to date. I just need to run watchtower and every container is getting the newest updates. I don't have to build it on every new version.

There are several issues here.

Firstly, you cannot generate the .env file within the docker-compose up command because it must be generated BEFORE running docker-compose up. You may skip the .env file generation right now, but then you will need to manually generate and keep this file up to date on your own.

Secondly, you cannot just take the latest versions of the daemons - they might be test versions or incompatible with each other (or with clients).

Hmm, that’s unfortunate to hear. Is there really no way to integrate the self-hosted Anytype Docker into an existing system? Do I have to rebuild the containers with every new version?

The problem is that I’m using Unraid and can’t build these containers on the host system. I’m working with Docker Compose and Traefik as a reverse proxy, but integrating this self-hosted server into my ecosystem seems impossible.

My preferred way would be to use Nextcloud for syncing the vault, but that’s a bit tricky and not very comfortable. Do you have any other ideas on how I can sync the vault across multiple systems, even if they’re offline?

I didn’t quite understand why you’re rebuilding the containers?
When updating, new versions of containers are pulled from the GitHub registry.
Only two containers are built locally: generateconfig-anyconf and generateconfig-processing.
BUT, they are lightweight and do NOT need to be rebuilt with each update; they can always be taken from the cache.

Hey, I don't know anymore. I'm using Joplin over Nextcloud for now. That meets all my requirements.

I too was attempting to get it running on a similar platform (Synology NAS via Portainer) but was unsuccessful. I will be abandoning the use of AnyType in favor of Obsidian, at least until AnyType supports platforms like UnRAID, TrueNAS, or Synology Containers.
