Cannot override admin credentials

Hi Team,

I am trying to override the default admin password for Superset by setting ADMIN_PASSWORD in extraEnv, but it still uses the default password.

Even after a clean database installation, the issue persists. Please let me know if any additional configuration is required for the application to use the password I have defined.

In Superset 5.0.0, setting ADMIN_PASSWORD in extraEnv works for Docker-based deployments because the container's initialization script reads this environment variable to set the admin password during user creation. However, if you're deploying with the Helm chart, the admin password is actually set from the value at init.adminUser.password in your values.yaml file, not directly from the ADMIN_PASSWORD environment variable—even if you inject it via extraEnv. So, to override the admin password in a Helm deployment, you need to set your desired password under init.adminUser.password in your Helm values, not just in extraEnv. The default remains "admin" unless you change this value. See the Helm chart's admin user creation logic for details:

If you want to ensure your password is applied, update init.adminUser.password and redeploy, making sure the init job runs and isn't skipped or cached. If you’re using Docker directly (not Helm), setting ADMIN_PASSWORD in the environment should work as expected, as shown in the container's entrypoint script:
docker-init.sh
