AudioGridder: “AudioGridder failed to bind to the server port 55056! You have to terminate the application that is blocking the port”

Whenever I run the AG server i get a message that says: “AudioGridder failed to bind to the server port 55056! You have to terminate the application that is blocking the port”. Whichever option i select yes or no, it scans (loading plug.ni layouts) and then the error message returns. How do i resolve this issue?

Means something is using that port or your firewall is blocking it. If it's in use it's probably a previous instance of audiogridder server - which happens sometimes You can usually see it if you look at the taskbar/task manager (if on Windows).
Or its another program using port 55056.
also if on windows here's step by step to fix :

1. Check if the port is already in use:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator
Run: netstat -ano | findstr :55056
If you see results, another process is using that port. Note the PID number at the end

2. Identify process

Run tasklist | findstr to identify the process
(if it is audiogridder)

Kill the existing AudioGridder process - (or unneeded program)
run - taskkill /F /PID [insert number found in step 2]

4. restart audiogridder server

5. close and reopen DAW of choice

6. (if it works) breathe sigh of relief before the existential dread hits
