Making deals for prepared data

Is there a way to make deals with already prepared data?

I would like to use https://github.com/anjor/go-fil-dataprep to prepare car files + calculate commP and padded piece sizes and then use delta as a deal making engine. Both the e2e and import flow docs suggest that car file will get regenerated -- am I mistaken about that?
