Is there a reason DAG dependancies cannot start with numeric character?

When using DAG workflows it is perfectly valid to create tasks that begin with numeric character, however when running workflows with dependancies to those tasks you get the following error:

Failed: invalid spec: templates.main.tasks.659662cf-3587-4501-a051-ff54f56783f8 name cannot begin with a digit when using either 'depends' or 'dependencies'

Is there a valid reason this is / should not be possible, if so why?
