QUESTION: Modifying WSLg Windows start menu shortcuts to launch using genie.

So when I an GUI application is installed for example Gnome Calendar which I believe requires systemd i.e. using Genie, a shortcut is created in the Windows start menu with a target like this "C:\Windows\System32\wslg.exe ~ -d Ubuntu gnome-calendar" as you can see it won't be working because it have the genie command. I was wondering what I need to support this either system wide so I don't need to modify the shortcuts or an altered target path to support Genie.

Unfortunately, this is something of an unsupported area right now. The only way to modify those shortcuts at the present time is to modify the .desktop files (under /usr/share/applications) that WSLg reads to create them to include the genie -c command in the appropriate place.

There's a WSLg issue currently open ( microsoft/wslg#66 ) to enable handling this in a clean, global way, but until and unless that's implemented, we're very limited in what we can do on this end.
