Extremely New to lasering, Needing Answers

Hi Im Rebecca, I got the laser for therapy crafts. i can easily pick up on things and thought a laser wouldnt be that hard...BOY was i dead wrong.. 1st off i know zip about coding but love to learn, and im a visual learner. so that all being said
i got a ORTUR Laser Master 2 S2 LU2-2, 24V Laser Engraver Machine, 0.06mm Fixed-Focus Eye Protection Compressed Spot, 32-bit Motherboard.

• the wood im using is 9 x 12 Inch Wood Canvas Panels
• im trying to make name and birthday engraving
• i cant seem to get the correct measurements right, nor the engraving setting.
  and i believe i set my (xy?) area wrong. I can usually find my answers from youtube tutorials not this time.
  Is there somebody that can stepxstep with me on 1st things 1st
