[Docs] Localization (i18n) support for Thunder Documentation #1251

@brionmario

Description

@brionmario

Current Limitation

The Thunder Documentation is currently available only in a single language (English).

As Thunder adoption grows globally, this becomes a limitation for non-English-speaking users who may struggle to fully understand:

  • Core concepts and architecture
  • Configuration and setup guides
  • API references and troubleshooting steps

Without localization support:

  • Documentation accessibility is limited for global audiences
  • Community contributions from non-English speakers are discouraged
  • Thunder adoption and onboarding may be slower in certain regions

Suggested Improvement

Introduce localization (i18n) support using Docusaurus internationalization features.

High-level approach:

  • Enable i18n following the Docusaurus official guides: https://docusaurus.io/docs/i18n/introduction
  • Use ISO Local Codes (<LANG>-<COUNTRY>)
    • Configure a default language (e.g., en-US)
  • Structure docs to allow locale-specific translations
    • MDX should support i18n
    • React components should support i18n
  • Allow community-driven translations via pull requests
  • Update CI to enforce localized content structure

Note

Docusaurus has a basic i18n support. Check if their support is enough or we need to move to a different i18n lib.

Important

Non-default language versions should not be indexed by search engines until translations are sufficiently complete and reviewed.
