Description
Current Limitation
The Thunder Documentation is currently available only in a single language (English).
As Thunder adoption grows globally, this becomes a limitation for non-English-speaking users who may struggle to fully understand:
- Core concepts and architecture
- Configuration and setup guides
- API references and troubleshooting steps
Without localization support:
- Documentation accessibility is limited for global audiences
- Community contributions from non-English speakers are discouraged
- Thunder adoption and onboarding may be slower in certain regions
Suggested Improvement
Introduce localization (i18n) support using Docusaurus internationalization features.
High-level approach:
- Enable i18n following the Docusaurus official guides: https://docusaurus.io/docs/i18n/introduction
- Use ISO Local Codes (
<LANG>-<COUNTRY>)- Configure a default language (e.g.,
en-US)
- Configure a default language (e.g.,
- Structure docs to allow locale-specific translations
- MDX should support i18n
- React components should support i18n
- Allow community-driven translations via pull requests
- Update CI to enforce localized content structure
Note
Docusaurus has a basic i18n support. Check if their support is enough or we need to move to a different i18n lib.
Important
Non-default language versions should not be indexed by search engines until translations are sufficiently complete and reviewed.
