Synctex should open preview if not already open

If I press Cmd-L Cmd-S while the preview window is closed, nothing happens. 

I have to press Cmd-L Cmd-P to open the preview window, then change back to the text editor and press Cmd-L Cmd-S in order for the viewer to jump to the right position.
