can't wipe hard drive

I hold the power button and it still doesn't hit the recovering options page. it goes to this. any ideas on how to reformat hd?

Heya

Know this is very old, but if still having this issue or if anyone else sees this:

Use DFU mode.

1. Turn this device off (locked device) and plug it into another mac (host) via USB-C. You can use any port on the host mac, but make sure to use the right port on the locked macbook. (on the left, closest to the trackpad for intel macs, closest to the screen for silicon macs)

2. Download and open Apple Configurator from the mac app store on the host mac. Keep this open while you startup the locked mac.

3. With the locked mac off, and the host mac open with configurator, do the following on the locked mac:

• Press and hold the power button for one second.
• After this one second, keeping the power button pressed, also press down the left option, left control, and right shift keys pressed, for another 8 seconds. After this, release all at the same time.
• If you release (or near the end of the 8 seconds), Apple Configurator should switch from the connect icon, to a big "DFU" icon. It may take more than one attempt. If it fails, and the locked mac starts up, hold power to shut it down, and then try again.

4. Right click on the large DFU symbol on the host mac, go to Advanced > Revive Device.

5. Click Restore, on the popup that appears.

6. Wait for the process to finish, your locked mac may restart multiple times or spin up its fans, and the process on the host mac may say it has failed, or take a very long time. This is normal, and may look as if it hasnt worked.
