Company let us keep the laptop when offboarding, but they just stripped it from their system and are totally uncontactable. The internet told me its bricked, this actually worked and i cannot believe it. Exactly as described, really simple.
I had to do some messing around with drives as i think i had formatted something wrong, but otherwise, I have a fully unlocked mac!
Question, how permanent is it. It just requires running a line of code in command line, so no restoring again, and the new user you create has admin perms, but just in case, is there anything i should know, as i know other methods have pestering notifications about remote management.
Havent tried a software update yet (repaired from Big Sur) but other users seem to be successful.
My specs for reference -
MacBook Pro 2020
4 thunderbolt model
Intel i7, 32gb, 512gb
Macos Big Sur (11.7.11)
Update - Have used this to unlock, then updated from Big Sur to Tahoe, and from Tahoe 26.2 to 26.4 beta, working fine still, seems pretty permanent
