[Bug]: Click enabled when numpad is activated even with enabled_touchpad_pointer=3

Describe the bug

Hello,
Since a few days, I can't use normally the numpad because when I type a number the pointer also do a click.

I worked well before and I can't remember having done anything to change this behaviour.
In numberpad_dev I have enabled_touchpad_pointer = 3

The system is Kubuntu 25.10, and I have the e210ma layout.

Do someone would have an idea?

Hello, thank you for creating an issue. Do you use Wayland? Could you post here for sure entire output of $ bash install.sh? Also, try these commands in the terminal:

$ kinfo -v

and

# should disable the touchpad's tap-to-click, try to use the touchpad (maybe is required to run after the next command for confirming the change: `$ qdbus6 org.kde.KWin /KWin reconfigure`)
$ kwriteconfig6 --file kcminputrc --group Touchpad --key TapToClick false

# should enable the touchpad's tap-to-click, try to use the touchpad (maybe is required to run after the next command for confirming the change: `$ qdbus6 org.kde.KWin /KWin reconfigure`)

$ kwriteconfig6 --file kcminputrc --group Touchpad --key TapToClick true

If was necessary to run the confirming command: $ qdbus6 org.kde.KWin /KWin reconfigure, have you noticed any significant delay?

EDIT: I tested for Kubuntu 25.10 inside VirtualBox and the commands change the TapToClick value.

EDIT 2: The same problem has the DialPad repository, it changes enabled

Unfortunatelly you will not be able use feature: Disabling Touchpad (e.g. Fn+special key) disables NumberPad aswell, at this moment is supported only X11

External keyboard

This is a predefined rule for changing the configuration when an external keyboard is connected/disconnected.

The application of this rule results in the following changes if an external keyboard is connected:

 - Numlock key does not activate NumberPad (config value is set to sys_numlock_enables_numpad=0)
 - Numberpad disactivation does not disable Numlock (config value is set to numpad_disables_sys_numlock=0)

In summary when an external keyboard is connected then NumberPad activation is not linked to Numlock state and vice versa.

Is that changed immediately? Or after boot? What is the output of the command: $ libinput list-devices | grep -A20 Touchpad before and after? Was the mentioned config changed before and after boot $ kwriteconfig6 --file kcminputrc --group Touchpad --key TapToClick?

If I do > System Settings > Input Devices > Touchpad > Tap-to-click the problem of the numpad is solved. But unfortunately I can't use the Tap-to-click when the numpad is disabled either, that way.

I changed immediately, without reboot.

When I did kwriteconfig6 --file kcminputrc --group Touchpad --key TapToClick false it didn't change the above setting, nor before nor after reboot.

Check if the method via the user interface and using kwriteconfig6 changes the file ~/.config/kcminputrc.

And look where the kwriteconfig6 writes:

$ kwriteconfig6 --file mujtestrc --group Test --key Ahoj 1
$ find ~/.config -name mujtestrc

The way to test what the user interface does behind the hood:

# open settings but do not click this do yet > System Settings > Input Devices > Touchpad > Tap-to-click > Apply
# open terminal and execute `$ pidof systemsettings`
# then run this command: `$ strace -f -p <PID returned by previous command> -e execve,openat`

I reinstalled it from the lastest master branch, but it's still the same : when the tap to click is enabled is settings, it stays enabled even when the touch pad is on.

$ kwriteconfig6 --file kcminputrc --group Libinput --group 10248 --group 516 --group "ASUF1411:00 2808:0204 Touchpad" --key TapToClick true didn't change the behaviour.
