Code of Conduct Nomination - 2026 #2236

@Mayaleeeee

Description

@Mayaleeeee

Hey AsyncAPI family 👋

Two years ago, we formed our first Code of Conduct Committee. Since then, we have quietly worked behind the scenes to listen, mediate, and help ensure this community stays what it’s meant to be: safe, respectful, and supportive.

We are now approaching the 2-year mark since the first nominations, so it’s time to begin the process again. This time, we hope to:

  • Welcome more members to the committee, and

  • Renew nominations for those continuing into the next term.

This committee isn’t about policing, it’s about care, fairness, trust, and showing up when it matters. It’s made up of humans who want other humans to feel like they belong here.

What the committee does

We take on the responsibility of:

  • Receiving and reviewing Code of Conduct reports
  • Supporting conflict resolution with empathy and neutrality
  • Protecting confidentiality for everyone involved
  • Updating and improving our CoC processes and documentation
  • Managing community spaces (Slack moderation, GitHub moderation, Social media etc.)
  • Helping maintain documentation and community guidelines
  • Encouraging healthy interactions by example

Who we are hoping to see step forward

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Show kindness alongside good judgment
  • Can handle sensitive or difficult conversations
  • Understand the importance of privacy and trust
  • Care about making AsyncAPI welcoming for everyone
  • Willing to help with documentation, moderation, and general process improvements.

You don’t need to know everything, we simply want you to care enough to show up when required.

How the nomination process works

  • Nominations are limited to members of the Technical Steering Committee (TSC).
  • You may nominate yourself or another TSC member (with their consent).
  • The nominee must agree before their name is submitted.
  • After nominations close, there will be a voting round, and the nominees with the highest votes will join the Code of Conduct Committee.

PS: Current CoC members (@Mayaleeeee @AceTheCreator ) are interested in re-nomination.

Tenure
Selected members will serve a 2-year term.
