Social Media Coordinator

We need a Social Media Coordinator to help us maintain a consistent presence across our social platforms.

This person would be responsible for:

• Scheduling posts on Buffer for each week (around 4-5 weekly posts)
• Spending one day per week creating and collecting shared news from the current #wg-marketing channel
• Repurposing existing content (old posts, videos, docs, and other relevant materials) into social media content
• Research tools and explore ways to improve some of the marketing aspects
• Share analytics and learnings with the community

The goal is to keep our social media presence active while making good use of the content we already have and experimenting with social media trends.

We’re open to TSC members and long-standing, active community members who are interested in taking on this community-led role and growing it into a structured initiative similar to how other community builders/program leads successfully lead and scale their initiatives/programs.

💰 Compensation: $300 per month

1. Content Flywheel Strategy
   Leverage my existing 42k+ LinkedIn audience and newsletter base to create a consistent AsyncAPI content pipeline:

• Weekly deep-dive posts
• Case studies from real adopters
• Short-form educational content
• Cross-posting with CNCF communities
• This creates awareness → curiosity → contribution → advocacy.

2. Campus & Developer Ecosystem Expansion
   Build structured collaborations with IIITs, developer communities, and tech conferences across countries. By introducing AsyncAPI into student communities, hackathons, and curriculum modules, we can create long-term grassroots adoption and future contributors.

Hi everyone

I’m very interested in taking on the Social Media Coordinator role.

I’ve been part of the AsyncAPI community for over 4 years, and I know the community, the people, and the project deeply. I’ve also contributed to the AsyncAPI Marketing Team, so I already understand how things move internally and how content flows across working groups.

Outside of AsyncAPI, I’ve:

• Worked closely with Fran, where I helped plan content, edit videos, and manage parts of his social media presence
• Voluntarily managed Open Nest Africa’s social media, helping us grow to over 500 community members and secure 2 regular sponsors through consistent content and community-focused campaigns

How I’d approach the role

My first focus would be consistency and clarity:

• Schedule 4–5 weekly posts via Buffer using a clear content mix (education, community updates, events, and highlights)
• Dedicate one day weekly to collecting and reshaping updates from the #wg-marketing channel
• Repurpose existing AsyncAPI content (blog posts, talks, docs, videos, past announcements) so we get more value from what already exists

I’d also track basic analytics regularly and share learnings with the community so we can see what’s working and iterate together.

How I’d scale the initiative

I would own the day-to-day execution of this role, while working closely with the Community Manager and the Community to keep messaging aligned and scalable.

To scale it, I’d:

• Create lightweight processes and templates (content themes, posting formats, reuse guidelines) to endure consistency and efficiency.

• Experiment gradually with trends and tools, then document learnings to continuously improve AsyncAPI’s social media strategy.

The goal would be to grow this into a structured, sustainable initiative that keeps AsyncAPI visible, active, and community-driven.

Hello @thulieblack, I have over 20K+ LinkedIn Audience with engineers, founders, and open sourcerers, and considering I took an exit from a startup as it got acquired by Datadog, so I got a good audience on tech and industry.

I believe in data-driven decisions , so if there is value addition with the approach, then only I will be drawing the compensation amounts. Otherwise it will be completely free work. We can discuss this later, but look at the following problem. fyi: @fmvilas

Current Problem with Marketing:
AsyncAPI needs a tuning balance between marketing right content and industry needs. We have a good set of features, but marketing them is essential for onboarding new users and sponsors as well

A potential approach I would prefer

1. Add analytics to our websites and create multiple funnels to identify which parts are visited most by the asyncapi users.
2. Using the analytics data and AI to bring ideas to the marketing deck, and use LinkedIn ads as well to market out the data. LinkedIn and Youtube Ads are very useful for promoting the software tools
3. Have 1:1 with our current asyncapi corporate users, and understand what they are using more, and lay out a plan to market those well, this will help us to align well with industry requirements, hence onboarding more sponsors
4. Two posts/day is the initial target. And using my linkedin acct to promote the stuff. 5. [Casual] I go on long bike tours as well, so I will be printing a QR code pointing to our Async home page..

I am very much interested in this role.

I had experience in making contents and managing social media for some organizations. I love to manage community through active and real participation rather than just posting contents.

How I will approach and scale this initiative

My initial focus will be for posting quality content consistently
I will Schedule daily one post posts and change it accordingly to the engagement rates.
I will spend one day per week creating and collecting shared news from the current[ #wg-marketing channel]
I will also spend time to research about the analytics of the previous posts and make sure the posts reach the correct audience, if not I will make sure it is reaching correct audience my exploring the market trends.
