Overview pane for git/github features

This is more of a suggestion, but seeing other ide's and extensions created for github for unity and github for visual studio

They usually have either a list or something that is an overview of things you can do with git/github stuff. I believe this would add better support for other use cases and personas.

I do believe that most people are making changes and want to see their changes on Atom, but I feel like having a UI that shows a overview of all the things you can do on Atom would be useful and make usability better for users(Example: PR, history, branches, commits, etc) I think on current roadmap we probably need more things implemented before we can have this Overview pane, but just wanted to bring this up as suggestion

👍 This is a great suggestion.

As soon as we have some more dock items (like history, branches) it will get hard to find these if you accidentally close them. Having some sort of "GitHub dashboard" with buttons to all the other dock items would be a great way to not get lost. It doesn't have to be "only" a navigation, but can already show some infos, and maybe even have the "most common" action available.

Option 1: Here an overview with some possible dock items that came to mind.

Or they could have a button on the right with the most common task, so you don't always have to open the dock item.

Option 2: It could be an "accordion" that can get expanded/collapsed. And the whole thing would scroll. But then each staging list would need to be separate, so that there is no double scroll area.

Also, each item could be rearranged, hidden and dragged onto its own dock item. Then you can decide which you use most and want to have it open all the time.
