Github Integration Package Causes Extreme Lag

Description

Started having an issue with extreme lag in Atom when a simple HTML page package is open. The lag would cause Atom to freeze up every few seconds for what seems to vary from about 5 or 6 seconds to around 10 seconds each time, rendering Atom useless.

After running atom in safe mode, completely removing all 3rd party packages, completely uninstalling Atom and reinstalling a fresh install, I still was having the issue when an HTML page was open (issue didn't exist without a project open). I then tried disabling all the native packages and noticed the issue went away. After re-enabling them one at a time, I traced it to this package.

The only change around the time atom stopped working, was that I set up a new Laravel project, installed composer, git, node.js, etc. Not sure if any of these are the cause of the conflict with the package.

Steps to Reproduce

Open HTML project...

Expected behavior:

App functions as normal
Actual behavior:

App functions with extreme lag, freezing the entire app at regular intervals for 5-10 seconds at a time. Then will work again for a few actions and then freeze again.

Reproduces how often:

Any time HTML project is open and Github Package is enabled.

Atom : 1.18.0
Electron: 1.3.15
Chrome : 52.0.2743.82
Node : 6.5.0

@c-winslow, Thanks for reporting the issue. Is the repository the project is in fairly large? Does this occur only with html file or when you're editing other files too?

@ungb No problem. No these are relatively small projects I open in Atom. A simple basic Bootstrap HTML project. It locks up anywhere in the project, if opening or clocking thorough code in css, js, html files, selecting images, etc. But a project needs to be open for the issue to occur. It's smooth sailing if just browsing the settings within Atom after startup, before a project is opened.

@ungb Additionally, I have noticed the problem does NOT exist when I open a much larger PHP project that has git installed, node.js, etc. And the problem seemed to start when I created this project.

@BinaryMuse Hello! Yup, still seeing the issue, though it seems the lag may be slightly less pronounced than before, but not by much.
