Casting as `ImmutableObject`

I don't like the ImmutableObject. I see the reasoning behind it but for me it just creates more work. I tried setting type ImmutableObject<T> = T; in global.d.ts but that didn't work. Is there a way around this?

As of right now I just get this error:

Can you cast as MyType ? Maybe write a helpful type routine which extracts T from the ImmutableObject?
